Phoenix Fitness Foundation provides affordable, evidence-based fitness coaching designed specifically for people who have had bariatric surgery. We match you with a certified trainer who understands your journey.
The first year after bariatric surgery is often called the "honeymoon phase" — weight comes off and momentum feels natural. But the research tells a more complicated story. Without sustained behavioral support, most patients experience significant weight regain during years two and three.
The problem isn't motivation. The problem is that most aftercare programs are built for people who already have strong health management skills — not for people who are still developing them. Phoenix closes that gap.
Our trainers are certified not just in fitness, but in activation coaching — a structured method for building your confidence, knowledge, and skills around managing your own health at whatever stage you're at right now.
You may be a good candidate if you have had bariatric surgery (or are preparing for it), are in the Denver metro area, and are interested in working with a fitness coach who understands the unique challenges of this journey.
There is no minimum fitness level required. Our program is specifically designed to work with you where you are today.
Cost: Sessions are offered on a sliding scale based on income. The Foundation subsidizes up to 80% of trainer fees for qualifying participants. No one is turned away for financial reasons.
Submit the interest form below. We'll follow up to learn more about where you are in your journey and confirm your eligibility for the program.
You'll complete a brief intake process including a short health activation questionnaire (PAM-13). This helps us match you with the right trainer and tailor the coaching approach to your current needs — not a generic program.
You'll be paired with a Phoenix-certified personal trainer in your area. Your trainer is trained in bariatric physiology, trauma-informed communication, and building lasting behavioral habits — not just exercise programming.
Sessions are structured around your activation level, building progressively toward greater independence and self-efficacy. Progress is tracked and your program evolves with you over time.
We are preparing to launch our pilot program in Denver in 2025. Submit your information below and we'll be in touch as soon as enrollment opens.
